Dispatch Center Project

Audrain County E-911 Joint Communications and the Emergency Services (911) Board have begun work on a project that will result in a new facility for Joint Communications. The new facility will be located at the corner of East Liberty and Oross Street in Vandiver Village on the east side of Mexico and will include a new dispatch center, administrative offices, and space for meetings and training. The facility will be roughly 5,500 square feet and tornado resistant.

Joint Communications is in need of its own facility because its current office at the Audrain County Sheriff's Office is very cramped. The new facility will provide dispatchers with more work space and the additional storage that they desperately need. There are plans to purchase new office equipment and furniture for the facility that will replace the worn furniture and equipment that is currently in use. An upgrade to the radio system is also planned for the new facility to improve the coverage and clarity of radio communications in Audrain County. The new facility and equipment upgrades are being funded by the 3/8 cent sales tax that was approved by voters in April 2005.

Septagon Construction Company, Inc. of Columbia, Missouri, was awarded the low bid to construct the new facility.

Be sure to check back regularly for updates and photos as the project progresses.
